Sameer Bishay writes a letter to the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah El-SISI

,Mr. President

What you are saying is just talk added to all other talks we have heard in the last few centuries and we are tired of hearing it, reading it or mere seeing it. The present Constitution doesn’t give the Egyptian Copts any Equality as Egyptian Citizens, because it is based on a single article that Islam Sources are the Principle of Ruling. Egyptian Christians are forced to abide not by the law or the Human Rights but by the Sharia which doesn’t give Christians any rights at all. So they are not treated as citizens but as Dhemmis or second class citizens. Until this moment, and you are the President for 3 years, churches couldn’t be built to accommodate the Christian Copts populace and some of what was built were not allowed to pray in it because of some Muslim fanatics objections to the point that they interfere in the church design and if it should or shouldn’t have a dome or Cross placed on it. Not a single Muslim or a group of Muslims fanatics were arrested or accused of disturbing the peace of the country or breaking the country peace or law. Why these Muslims are not arrested and gone for trials while they are disturbing the peace of their country and breaking the law. But you boldly ask the Christian Egyptians to bear with all these abuses and maltreatment’s. You dared not to arrest the Muslim abusers because the country is in turmoil. But you are asking the abused Coptic populace who are losing their lives, and the lives of loved ones inside and outside churches, homes, businesses and farmlands to bear with all killings and kidnappings because the country is fighting a serious war with outer forces.

Mr. President, Why some of the churches which were closed by the security forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are not open back until this moment? Have you ever heard that a church was a security concern or disturbing peace for the last 20 centuries? Why do your police force arrest the abused Innocent Christians and keep them under arrest while the Muslim abusers are left free in all the recent incidents in Upper Egypt? Why your appointed Governers of Provinces, their Heads of security, Senior Police Officers are fully accepting and participating in traditional Sittings “Galsat 3orfeyyah” to solve problems between fighting parties instead of applying the Law? Astonishingly, Egypt was the first country and Civilization in the whole world which has a law and court justice for seven thousand years, all this was cancelled under your care and replaced by tribal sittings!!! Why the law is not applied in the country we are proud to be our own?

Mr. President, May i conclude with a very simple logic and rule of thumb, we all know and use ” Before you ask a crying person to stop crying you should stop the offender from offending.

Long Live Egypt, Long Live Egypt, Long Live Egypt.
