Amidst the advance voting for provincial elections in Ontario, and on the way to the election day on June second, many voters are still hesitant about whom they should trust with their future and the future of the generations to come.
After the four parties’ leaders debates and the campaigning of candidates, we have not yet heard about any solutions or even frame of projects towards finding future resolutions to several major pressing issues that affect the daily life of the province’s residents.
Although these issues cannot be stated and resolved in few words here; it is inevitable to highlight and stress on two significant challenges that the province is facing, which require undelayedly actions for resolving them.
A few days ago, a shocking report was published in one of the most daily read newspapers, stating that: around 16,000 children are waiting their delayed surgeries! Out of which about 5000 are in an immediate need of surgical intervention before their cases deteriorate due to the long wait time! Evidently, we would say here that such a delay resulted from the backlog during the pandemic, yet it is still an unacceptable statement.
In a modern civilized society and in the name of humanity, Children’s care and well-being are the prime concern, and above all other challenges, if medical care is a determinant of a nation’s advancement, sophistication, and civilization. In that case, we should be ahead of all nations. Since our country is ranked number four among the top ten best public healthcare systems in the world. how do we have such a critical deficiency in providing the required healthcare for our children, the future of the nation, the reason for our advancement and stability, healthcare is the factor that we use to sell to the world for attracting more and more immigrants, which is the prime fuel for our economy? The answer would be lack of funding… maybe!
In line with such horrific news concerning the massive number of children needing immediate surgeries, we hear daily about an enormous number of stolen vehicles. Although it is a crime that has existed for a long time, the number of daily cases exceeds all expectations and statistics.
Car theft has a sizable negative effect on the economy, yes, all vehicles are insured, however, such large amounts of compensation paid by the insurance companies are, in fact, representing considerable amounts of dollars taken out of investments and circulation of capital.
Primarily, this phenomenon could be attributed to many reasons, mainly economic and social. Nevertheless, the increase in crimes like car theft and home invasions is directly related to lax security. Which is duly related again to lack of funding…! Unless there are many other reasons that could not be publicly divulged for political and electoral reasons.
Around half billion dollars were the amounts of claims paid as claims for car thefts in 2021. January 2022 has witnessed 71% increase in car theft from January 2021, then how much money the economy would loose by the end of 2022 if no drastic measures are taken towards halting this attrition of money. The money that could be used to save children’s lives.
Before voting, call your candidates and find answers about how their parties would deal with those dilemmas.
